Binh Phuoc (VNA) – The police on environment crime prevention and fight under the Ministryof Public Security on October 26 detected an illegal detention of rare animalsin Loc Ninh district, the southern province of Binh Phuoc.

Le Quang Hanh, a localin Loc Dien commune, were found keeping 16 cobras and 11 pangolins, which aredefined as rare species needing urgent protection.

The police also discoveredsome caged civets, varans and a herd of dozens of monkeys. Most of the animalswere rescued.

Hanh admitted that hebought the animals a few weeks ago, adding that the monkeys were from Dong Thapprovince.
