BinhDuong (VNA) – The 10th World Technopolis Association (WTA)University Presidents' Forum kicked off in the southern province of Binh Duongon October 11.

The event was participated by WTA President HerTae Jeong, representatives of Binh Duong authorities and nearly 30 presidentsof universities across the world.

It offered a platform for heads of universitiesto meet and discuss measures to increase role of universities in research anddevelopment, thus bolstering academic and industrial cooperation and setting upstart-up ecosystem.

Addressing the event, President of BinhDuong-based Eastern International University Nguyen Van Phuc said Vietnam hasfocused on smart city development with the collaboration of three significantfactors, namely the government, businesses and universities.

At the forum, member universities of the WTAsigned cooperation documents to promote the development of localities.

Binh Duong is the host of the 11th WTA GeneralAssembly and related events fromOctober 10 to 12. 

The province became the first location inVietnam to be selected as an official member of the WTA, which has 106 membersfrom 48 countries and territories. 

The WTA has been implementing collaborativeprojects with UNESCO towards the development of sustainable urban science andthe governance of cities.-VNA

🐎 Vietnam launches six 4.0 technology training and talent networks

The networks bring together universities, research institutes and domestic and foreign businesses. Members will work closely in training, research, and technology transfer by sharing curricula, improving faculty capacity, providing access to laboratories and research facilities, and jointly implementing science and technology projects.

Vietnam is actively yet cautiously preparing for the construction of its first nuclear power plant in Ninh Thuan (now the south-central coastal province of Khanh Hoa). The resumption of the programme after years of suspension carries considerable significance for the nation’s development in a new era as it strives to gradually reduce and ultimately phase out coal-fired power to realise the Government’s commitment to Net Zero by 2050.

ꦛ PM chairs national committee's meeting on semiconductor development

Vietnam has issued many key policies to support semiconductor development, notably the Politburo’s Resolution 57 on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Other initiatives include the Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050, and the Human Resources Development Programme for the Semiconductor Industry.
