Binh Dinh works to develop tourism

In a bid topromote tourism in the locality, the province will focus on building itstourism trademark while introducing local potential far and wide. Itwill also open its doors for investors to develop technicalinfrastructure and work to tackle barriers in land clearance.

Togetherwith support from the central Government, trillions of VND have beenspent on land clearance, resettlement and infrastructure such as the QuyNhon- Nhon Hoi Bridge, as well as other traffic systems in the coastaland mountainous areas, facilitating the implementation of tourismprojects in the locality. Developing infrastructure will lure moreinvestment and enlarge the tourism-service sector.

Investorswith insufficient capital and experience will have their investmentcertificates revoked to make room for other potential investors. Theprovince also recommended relevant ministries and agencies to ask forGovernment approval for additional golf course projects in the NhonHoi Economic Zone, which is slated to become a major tourism centre.

Accordingto the Prime Minister’s Decision 142/2005 on the general planning ofNhon Hoi Economic Zone by 2020, space for coastal tourism developmenthas been adjusted to 2,570 hectares from 1,585 hectares to include theVinpearl Hai Giang and Nhon Hoi- Cat Tien coastal tourism sites and ThiNai lagoon eco-tourism site.

In recent years, Binh Dinh hasdeveloped infrastructure for various kinds of tourism, from cruises,resorts to sports and exploration tours. To date, the province has drawn11 coastal tourism-service projects with total registered capital of17.9 trillion VND (833 million USD).

Over 1.7 milliontravellers visited the province in the first five months of the year. Ofthe figure, 85,600 were foreigners, surging 22 percent from the sameperiod in 2014.

Binh Dinh is also working to submit arequest for UNESCO-recognition of its traditional martial arts as partof the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

The local Bai choi singing, unique to the coastal central region andoften seen at local spring festivals, resembling a game using playingcards and village huts, has also received attention. Restoration effortshave additionally focused on traditional festivals and trade villagesas well as historical and cultural relic sites.

Binh Dinh has carried out support policies for human resourcestraining, intensified domestic and international cooperation andaccelerated communications to raise local awareness of tourism.-VNA
