Binh Dinh aims to become a modern industrial province and asocio-economic development hub of the central key economic region andVietnam by 2030.

Nearly 100 Vietnamese expertsgathered at a discussion in Quy Nhon city on June 27 to comment on theprovince’s socio-economic development blueprint for 2016-2020.

Under the plan, Binh Dinh targets an average annual gross regionaldomestic product (GRDP) growth of 9.5-10 percent between 2016 and 2020and 10-11 percent between 2021 and 2030.

It willincrease the proportion of the service sector in the economic structureto 45 percent and that of the industry-construction sector to 34 percentby 2020, said Dr Phan Thanh Hai from Binh Dinh’s socio-economicdevelopment advisory group.

The province willtransform Quy Nhon city into an economic force while developing thethree pillars of sea-based economy, the Nhon Hoi economic zone andhi-tech agriculture, he added.

Dr Tran Du Lich, headof the advisory group, said Binh Dinh needs to thoroughly review itsGRDP achievements in comparison with national and regional averages toset appropriate growth targets and make more concerted efforts.

He suggested provincial authorities hire foreign advisors to design development plans for five- and ten-year terms.

According to President of the Vietnam Academy of Social SciencesNguyen Xuan Thang, the province should prioritise fishery logisticsservices both on the mainland and at sea as well as facilitate theprocessing industry, hi-tech agriculture and farm produce markets.

To that end, it is necessary to improve public administrativeservices, technological infrastructure and human resources training, headded.-VNA
