Biggest central chamber of Khmer pagoda inaugurated

A central chamber of the Ghositaram Pagoda, the largest Khmer pagoda in Vietnam, was inaugurated in Vinh Loi district of the Mekong delta province of Bac Lieu on March 12.
A central chamber of the GhositaramPagoda, the largest Khmer pagoda in Vietnam, was inaugurated in VinhLoi district of the Mekong delta province of Bac Lieu on March 12.

The central chamber was built on 427.5 sq.m in Hung Hoi commune in 2001at a cost of more than 10 billion VND sourced from the State budget andBuddhist followers’ contributions.

The central chamber reflects the harmonious combination of modern andancient architecture of Therevada Khmer Buddhism and the essence of thenational culture. The tops of its towers are decorated with dozens ofdragons. It took around four years for artist Danh Sa Rinhong to carvethe chamber’s different patterns, sand the Head of the GhositaramPagoda.

According to Head of the Ghositaram Pagoda Most Venerable Huu Hinh, thepagoda, which was built in 1860 and is the cradle for Buddhist studyamong monks, has trained more than 3,500 initiates./.
