Hanoi (VNA) – Belgian experts shared experience in sustainable urbandevelopment during a workshop in Hanoi on December 8.

The event was held by the Vietnam Urban Forum,Brussels Invest & Export, and Flanders Investment & Trade.

Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam Jehanne Rocas saidthe workshop introduced outstanding studies on urban development, environmentalprotection, and renewable energy.

She added that Belgium has led the world inenvironmental technologies over the past 50 years.

Belgium has supported the Vietnam Urban Forum(VUF) since its establishment in 2003, she said, noting that the Europeancountry invests in the VUF’s projects in the central provinces of Ninh Thuan,Binh Thuan and Ha Tinh.

It also assisted waterway transport projects inHo Chi Minh City and coordinated with Vietnamese universities to developurbanisation, she added.

Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s CommitteeNguyen The Hung pointed out challenges in the field.

He said Hanoi is aiming to build a green,modern, dynamic and highly-competitive city in the country and beyond through2030 with a vision towards 2050.

The capital is focusing on improving urbanplanning and management capacity and is devising regulations to attractdomestic and foreign organisations and experts to the field, he revealed.

Hanoi will take measures to modernise itsinfrastructure and ensure harmony between the preservation of historical andcultural heritage sites and economic development.

The city will pay heed to the knowledge-basedeconomy, environmental protection and defence and security, he noted.

During the workshop, participants discussedmeasures to develop urban areas and promote green growth in Vietnam such asbuilding smart cities, improving lighting systems, water management, and copingwith urban environmental pollution./.

Under a draft to amend and supplement the Government's Decree 125/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations of tax and invoice regulations, the Ministry of Finance has proposed classifying the failure to issue invoices into five different levels. Infraction levels will correspond to fines of 1 million VND to 80 million VND, depending on the nature and number of invoicing violations.
