Belgium funds wastewater treatment project in Thai Nguyen

The Belgian Government will provide 252 billion VND in official development assistance for a 439-billion-VND project on wastewater treatment and drainage systems in Thai Nguyen province.

Thai Nguyen (VNA)ꦦ – The Belgian Government will provide 252 billion VND (11.08 million USD) in official development assistance for a 439-billion-VND project on wastewater treatment and drainage systems in northern Thai Nguyen province.

A contract on equipment consultation and services for the project was signed between Belgian contractor Sodraep and the Thai Nguyen Water Sewerage and Urban Infrastructure Development One Member Limited Company on December 1, under the witness of Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam Jehanne Roccas.
The project, which will be implemented in five years, aims to restore and build sewers, pumping stations, and wastewater treatment facilities so as to reduce pollution, and protect the quality of underground water.
It strives to treat wastewater for 85 percent of Thai Nguyen city’s population by 2020. Before the signing ceremony, the Belgian Ambassador had a meeting with the provincial leaders to study the locality’s socio-economic situation as well as its investment potential and advantages.-VNA
