Bac Giang to host national water event

A national campaign will take place in northern Bac Giang province on March 19 and 20 in honour of World Water Day on March 22, according to the Directorate of Water Resources.
A national campaign will take place in northern Bac Giang province onMarch 19 and 20 in honour of World Water Day on March 22,according to the Directorate of Water Resources.

The campaign, themed ‘Water and Sustainable Development’, includes aphoto exhibition, a seminar, and an art performance. It also hosts anational meeting with top State officials in attendance who will speakon the matter.

Bac Giang was selected to hostthe event due to its local diversity of water resources and relevantchallenges faced. Most of the water used in the province comes from thehighly polluted Thuong, Cau and Luc Nam rivers.

Each year, World Water Day highlights a specific aspect of freshwater,consolidating the valuable resource’s role in the sustainabledevelopment agenda.

According to the UN Water,by 2025, 1.8 billion people will be living in countries or regions withabsolute water scarcity, and two-thirds of the world's population willbe living under water-stressed conditions.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
