Ba Ria-Vung Tau (VNA) – The Vietnam-Russia Friendship Associationin southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province will continue serving as a bridge forcooperation between Russia’s localities and socio-economic organisations andthe province.

The pledge was made at the association’sfourth congress in Vung Tau city on January 25, during which a new executiveboard in the 2017-2022 tenure was elected with Doan Huu Mai, Vice Chairman ofthe provincial Confederation of Labour, voted as the association’s Chairman.

Russian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh CityPopov Alexey Vladimirovich lauded the contributions made by the association tofostering Russia-Vietnam ties.

Activities to disseminate information aboutRussia, cultural activities and seminars held by the association have helpedconsolidate the two countries’ friendship and intensify mutual understandingbetween the two peoples, he added.

Over the years, the association hascontributed to the province’s people-to-people diplomatic activities. It workedwith provincial authorities to welcome delegations from Russia’s State Duma andNenets Autonomous Okrug, participated in holding the Nenets Autonomous OkrugCultural Day in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, and held activities to mark the two countries’historical events and traditional days.-VNA
