Vientiane (VNA)🌱 – Pasaxon, the official organ of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, on August 18 published an article celebrating the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution (August 19), hailing its success as a driving force for national development ever since.
The article took a trip down memory lane, recalling how, eight decades ago, the Vietnamese people overthrew foreign invaders in a landmark victory that handed power back to the masses. The August Revolution’s triumph, it said, anchored Vietnam’s subsequent strides in construction and development, making it one of the biggest moments in the country’s 20th century fight for freedom.
The 1945 victory, it noted, ushered Vietnam into a new era of national independence tied to socialism, turning Vietnamese citizens from slaves into masters of their own nation and destiny. It also demonstrated the sound guidelines, wise leadership and strategic vision of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, and the power of national solidarity.

After 39 years of Doi Moi (renewal), Vietnam has attained unprecedented strength, potential, and global standing. It is charging ahead with industrialisation, modernisation, and deeper ties to the world while keeping its economy steady and improving living standards. Independence, sovereignty, national unity, and territorial integrity remain firmly safeguarded. These achievements, it stressed, are a living tribute to the 1945 Declaration of Independence and the resilience, solidarity, and growing aspirations of its people under the Party leadership.
In closing, the article invoked the spirit of August 1945, when the Vietnamese Party, army and people united in a resolute purpose to score great victories, opening a new revolutionary path and a transformative era for the nation./.
The August Revolution, also known as the August Uprising, demonstrated the boldness of the Indochinese Communist Party at that time, now the Communist Party of Vietnam, along with late President Ho Chi Minh and other leaders.
The August Revolution of 1945 was a defining milestone in the nation’s history, opening a new era – that of national independence associated with socialism.
The victory of the August Revolution was not only a great turning point that ended the colonial–feudal regime, but also a revolution for humanity, for the right to life, the right to freedom, and the right to pursue happiness. It marked the beginning of a new era: the era of national independence closely linked with socialism.
