Hanoi (VNA) – The hosting of the AsianAssociations of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI)’s 14th Assembly willnot only contribute to promoting the image of Vietnam, but also give the StateAudit of Vietnam (SAV) a good opportunity to forge links with ASOSAI member supreme audit institutions, said Auditor General Ho Duc Phoc.

Speaking at a press conference in Hanoi on September 17, Phoc,who is also head of ASOSAI 14’s organising board, stressed that the event willhelp promote informationexchange and collaboration in personnel training in the auditing field between theSAV and its peers in the ASOSAI community.

TheASOSAI Assembly, which is held every three years, is the venue for all heads ofASOSAI member supreme audit agencies to discuss and decide on major issues, necessarydocuments, regimes, and policies to achieve the association’s objectives and furtherits development, Phoc said.

It will also serve as a forum for sharing experience in the field of stateaudits, he noted.

Throughthe event, the SAV will also learn from the experiences and strengths of auditinstitutions in developed countries, thus taking measures to improve its role andability in the time to come.

This year’s event, under the theme “Environmental Auditing for SustainableDevelopment”, will be the largest ASOSAI gathering to date, and isdue to be held in Vietnam for the first time. Its main events will take placeon September19, 20, and 22 in Hanoi. Sideline events will be arranged on September17th, 18th, and 21st in the capital city and the northern coastalprovince of Quang Ninh.

It will be attended by around 250 delegates from 46 supreme audit institutions inAsian countries. Representatives from the International Organisation ofSupreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) and a number of other internationalorganisations will also be attending as observers.

The event is expected to welcome some 350 domestic guests representing the Party,State, political and social organisations, mass organisations, localities, universitiesand research institutes. There will also be representatives from internationalorganisations and embassies of foreign countries in Vietnam.

Selecting the event’s topic on the environment is strongly supported by ASOSAI supremeaudit institutions, Phoc said.

Hosting ASOSAI 14 means that the SAV will become the President of ASOSAI forthe 2018-2021 term and maintains its membership on the ASOSAI governing board for the three successive terms from 2015to 2024.

ASOSAI 14 will see the approval of many important issues, including a report onthe implementation of the ASOSAI Capacity Development Programme in 2015-2018 andthe plan for its 2018-2021 programme; as well as a budget estimate for ASOSAI2019-2021.

The 14th Assembly of ASOSAI will alsoselect the host of the 15th event, and elect the governing board andaudit committee for the term of 2018-2021.

It will also approve the “Hanoi Declaration” – the official document summarisingthe most important working results of the event and reflects the commitment andaction of the ASOSAI community for the organisation’s development objectivesfor the 2016-2021 period, focusing on the sharing of knowledge among its supremeaudit institutions.

Thedeclaration will also affirm the interest, efforts, and practical contributionof the ASOSAI community to pursuing sustainable development goals for the worldin general and addressing global environmental challenges in particular.


Theseventh symposium, themed “Environmental Auditing for Sustainable Development”,which will take place on September 20 and is one of the event’s most importantagendas.

To serve press activities during the event, the organisation board has set up apress centre, which operate as a guide to all domestic and international reporters,and swiftly provide full information related to events and related activities.
