Quang Ninh (VNA) – The opening ceremony of theASEAN+3 pop singing contest was held in the northeastern province of QuangNinh on July 27.
Organised by the radio The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) from July26-29, the event attracts 22 professional singers aged 18-35 from ASEAN memberstates and four guest singers from China, the Republic of Korea, and Japan.
It aimed to raise mutual understanding and cultural exchangebetween Vietnam and regional countries, as well as seek young talents in thebloc.
Contestants will undergo semi-final and final rounds, withmembers of the jury coming from the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia andVietnam.
Ngo Minh Hien, VOV Deputy General Director and head of theorganising board, said the event also holds political and diplomaticsignificance, thus affirming Vietnam’s stature in the region.
It is also one of the activities to popularise the images ofVietnam and ASEAN, contributing to building a prosperous ASEAN community, headded.
Ten contestants will compete in the final round on July 28night.-VNA
Sao Mai (Morning Star) singing contest is calling for registrations from Vietnamese people and foreigners who are interested in singing, Tran Hong Ha, a representative of the organising board, said at a press conference held in Hanoi on December 11.
The ASEAN + 3 singing contest 2019, the second of its kind, has been officially launched, open to professional pop singers aged 18-35 from 10 Southeast Asian nations with a view to promoting cultural exchanges in the bloc.
