ASEAN village opens in HCM City

Ho Chi Minh City began the ASEAN village event, the first of its kind, in the evening of September 21 to mark the bloc’s 50 years of operation (1967-2017),Vietnam’s 22 years of membership (1995-2017).

HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City began the ASEAN village event, the firstof its kind, in the evening of September 21 to mark the bloc’s 50 years ofoperation (1967-2017) and Vietnam’s 22 years of membership (1995-2017).

Speaking at theopening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le ThanhLiem said the event aims to connect ASEAN people and businesses through tradeand cultural exchanges.

He said HCM City iscommitted to taking part in the bloc’s cooperation, exchanges, and initiatives.

The four-day eventintroduces the lands, peoples, and traditional cultures of the ten ASEAN memberstates.

Visitors can enjoyfolk games, hands-on craft activities, a food festival and tourism and tradefairs.

The ASEAN village isexpected to attract about 500,000 visitors.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
