Vientiane (VNA) – An art troupe from the Military Region 5 onJanuary 3 performed in Vientiane on the occasion of the 70th founding anniversary of the Lao People’s Army (January 20).
The event was attended by Lao Deputy Minister of National Defence and head ofthe General Department of Politics of the Lao People’s Army Thongloi Silivong,Major General Saisamone Salapseng from the General Department of Politics,Vietnamese Military Attaché in Laos Tao Van Thai, and many soldiers andresidents in Vientiane.
In his opening remarks, Saisamone Salapseng stressed that the two armies andpeople have enjoyed traditional solidarity, and supported each other in thefight against mutual hostiles.
Describing the special friendship and solidarity between the two countries asinvaluable heritage, he said that the performance by the Vietnamese art troupehas significant meaning, helping foster the comprehensive cooperation betweenVietnam and Laos, and their armies.-VNA
The Vietnam-Laos special friendship festival opened in Dien Bien Phu city in the northern border province of Dien Bien on December 8 to mark the 56th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 41st anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation between the two countries.
The 28th annual Vietnam-Laos border meeting took place on December 10 in the Lao capital of Vientiane, reviewing cooperation in 2018 and discussing orientations for 2019.
