Armies of Vietnam, China wrap up medical relief exercise in Quang Ninh

The armies of Vietnam and China have co-organised a humanitarian and medical relief exercise in Mong Cai border city in Vietnam’s northern province of Quang Ninh.

Hanoi (VNA) – ꦉThe armies of Vietnam and China have co-organised a humanitarian andmedical relief exercise in Mong Cai border city in Vietnam’s northern province ofQuang Ninh.

Speaking atthe closing ceremony on December 11, Major General NguyenHung Thang, Deputy Chairman and Chief of the Staff of the General Department ofLogistics under the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence, said the exercise took place in line with the schedule and met all set targets. The eventreviewed the collaboration between forces engaging in internationaldisaster relief efforts; and between military medical forces performing internationalmissions and the host nation’s medical capacity, said Thang, who wasalso head of the exercise steering board.

It reached consensus on procedures in search and rescue operations, first-aid and transportation of theinjured to treatment facilities in designated areas, as well as theimplementation of measures for the prevention and control of epidemic-pronediseases, and necessary medical equipment. COVID-19prevention measures had been in place to ensure safety for the exercise. For hispart, Colonel Chen Chunming, deputy head of the health bureau of the LogisticsSupport Department under the Central Military Commission of China, highlyvalued Vietnam’s preparation for and organisation of the event. Theexercise helped improve humanitarian and medical cooperation between the armies ofChina and Vietnam in an efficient manner, he added.

It offeredchances for sustainable and long-term development of cooperation between militarymedical forces, thereby contributing to relations between the two countries in general andtheir armies in particular, Chen said./.
