Hanoi (VNA)🍰 - A group of Argentine experts arrived in Vietnam to help the country determine the identities of martyrs’ remains, Argentine Ambassador to Vietnam Claudio Gutierrez said.

The work, supported by the Argentine Fund for South – South Co-operation, is part of the countries’ joint efforts since 2011 to search for and identify martyrs.
The three experts from the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team are set to conduct pilot excavations of 40 of the 6,800 tombs that the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs plans to unearth. They will also meet martyrs’ relatives to get information and blood samples to identify the fallen soldiers, according to the diplomat.
In recent years, Argentine experts have offered training for their Vietnamese peers from excavation to blood sample analysis, Claudio Gutierrez noted, adding that co-operation in forensic anthropology and heredity to seek and identify wartime remains was a highlight of bilateral relations. The Latin American country is also carrying out a number of other projects in Vietnam at present, including technical training in scientific and technological application in agriculture.-VNA
