Anti-dumping seminar starts in Ho Chi Minh City

A seminar on anti-dumping opened on August 12 in Ho Chi Minh City in a bid to update Vietnamese enterprises and managers on experiences related to the issue worldwide.

Topping the agenda is an overview of US and European regulations andinformation on anti-dumping, to enable Vietnamese businesses topenetrate effectively into the two markets.

Speaking at the seminar, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh CityInstitute for Development Studies Nguyen Van Quang said that it isnecessary to learn from the experiences of other countries on theissue, as well as the World Trade Organisation’s dispute settlementsystem, in order to help Vietnam avoid obstacles arising frominternational trading activities and increase its ability to resolvedisputes.

According to economists, the up-coming recovery of the world’s economywill boost international commercial transactions, resulting in anincrease in the number of anti-dumping lawsuits to protect fair tradebetween countries.

The seminar was co-organised by the Ho Chi Minh City Institute forDevelopment Studies, the Centre for Integration WTO TechnicalAssistance of Ho Chi Minh City, the Multilateral Trade AssistanceProject Viet Nam III and the USAID-funded STAR-Vietnam project./.

Under a draft to amend and supplement the Government's Decree 125/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations of tax and invoice regulations, the Ministry of Finance has proposed classifying the failure to issue invoices into five different levels. Infraction levels will correspond to fines of 1 million VND to 80 million VND, depending on the nature and number of invoicing violations.
