Can Tho (VNA) – The 8th annual Southern TraditionalCakes Festival will take place in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho from April12-16.
The event is organised every year on the occasion of the Hung Kings’ deathanniversary (10th day of the third lunar month). It aims to preservethe traditional culinary art, promote local cake trademarks, and expand marketsfor the local products.
Themed “Taste of the southern region”, this year festival will feature 100stalls displaying a wide range of cakes originated in Vietnamese southernlocalities while 100 others will showcase staples of other provinces and citiesacross the nation.
According to Nguyen Khanh Tung, Director of Can Tho city Trade, InvestmentPromotion and Exhibition Centre-the organiser of the event, said that variousactivities will be held during the festival such as traditional cake makingcompetition and performance and a talk on how to seek markets for traditionalcakes.
There will be a buffet stalls for cakes, folk games and an entertainment areafor children.
The festival will be held at 108A, Le Loi Street,Cai Khe Ward, Ninh Kieu District.-VNA
The fifth southern traditional cake festival is scheduled to take place in Can Tho from April 15 to 19, 2016 as the highlight of the Mekong Delta Tourism Week and the 2016 National Tourism Year.
