Agribank earmarks 40 billion VND to help poor people during Tet

The Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) has decided to spend 40 billion VND (1.72 million USD) on its annual programme supporting the poor people on the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) holidays.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Bankfor Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) has decided to spend 40billion VND (1.72 million USD) on its annual programme supporting the poorpeople on the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) holidays.

The fund will be allocated to socialwelfare activities nationwide, in response to the campaign providing aid to thepoor, ensuring that no one is left without Tet.

Agribank also joined a programme of theVietnam General Confederation of Labour designed to help poor workers return totheir hometowns free of charge for the Tet festival, the occasion during whichfamily reunion is a very important factor for most of the Vietnamese.

Accordingly, the bank granted 4,000 coach tickets to support needy workers in industrial parks in Ho Chi Minh City andthe southern province of Binh Duong.

For the last two years, Agribank has stayedin the list of the 20 largest contributors to the State budget.–VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.
