HCMCity (VNA) – Agoda, one of the world’s largest online bookingplatforms, on June 14 announced the top summer destinations for Vietnamesetravellers.
Thecentral coastal city of Da Nang has emerged as the top destination amongVietnamese travelling during the summer break, according to Agoda.
Otherdomestic tourist sites included on the list are Nha Trang city in the centralcoastal province of Khanh Hoa, the ancient city of Hoi An in central Quang Namprovince, Da Lat city in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, Phu Quocisland district in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang, and Quy Nhon cityin the central province of Binh Dinh.
Vietnameseholiday-makers also favour Southeast Asian cities like Bangkok of Thailand,Singapore and Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia. Paris is the only European city in thelist.
Vietnamhas also been one of the tourist hotspots for travellers from the Republic ofKorea (RoK), Thailand, Japan and Singapore.
Close to 7.3million foreign tourists visited the country in the first five months of 2019,up 8.8 percent against the same period last year.
Of the total,visitors from Asia made up the lion’s share at 76.8 percent, up 9.9 percentyear-on-year.
Most ofVietnam’s key tourist markets in the region, including the RoK, Japan, Taiwan,Thailand, and Singapore, followed an upward trend. China, however, recorded aslight fall of 0.8 percent.
Meanwhile, thenumber of tourists from Europe and America were estimated to have picked by up5.9 and 4.9 percent from the same period of 2018, respectively.-VNA

By source market, China continued to lead with 3.1 million visitors, equivalent to 25.5% of all foreign arrivals. The Republic of Korea followed with 2.5 million, or 20.7%. Other major markets included Taiwan (China) with 737,000, the US with 522,000, and Japan with 380,000.
