- National Assembly (NA) deputies on June 17 morning focused their discussion on adjustments to the investment policy for the national target programme on socio-economic development in ethnic minority-inhabited and mountainous areas in the 2021-2030 period, as part of the 15th legislature's ongoing seventh session.

According to the Government's report, the programme has recorded remarkable results in terms of disbursement, which, however, has yet to meet expectations, particularly that of non-business capital. Read full story

- Vietnam Airlines has inaugurated a route between Vietnam and the Philippines, making it the first Vietnamese carrier to establish a di🍸rect connection to the island nation.

The inaugural flight, VN648, departed from Ho Chi Minh City at 12:50 AM on June 17 and landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila at 4:20 AM the same day. Read full story

- Northern Quang Ninh provin𒅌ce๊ has attracted more than 1.52 billion USD worth of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first half of this year and is poised to reach its goal of 3 billion USD in FDI for the full year.

According to the province’s Investment Promotion and Support Board, FDI was put mainly into high-tech fields and environmentally friendly industries with high added value, enabling the northern coastal province to participate in the global value chain. Read full story

- Long queues of gold buyers were no longer seen in front of designated sites of four State-owned commercial banks on June 17 morning.

From June 17, the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank), the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), and the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank) enables registrations for SJC-branded gold purchases on their websites. - Thailand is seeking to cooperate with Vietnam and Cambodia in opening a maritime route connecting islands near Trat province of Thailand with Vietnam's Kien Giang province and Cambodia's Sihanoukville province to promote investment, trade, tourism and tourism combined with meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE).

Trat Governor Natthapong Sanguanjit recently chaired a meeting on this initiative within the Cambodia-Vietnam-Thailand Economic Corridor (CVTEC) - Trat Business Roadshow 2024, with the participation of representatives from six provinces of the three countries, Chairman of the Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT) Chamnan Srisawat, and Senior Vice President at the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) Puripan Bunnag, Thai media reported on June 16. - Vietnam have obtained 12 medals, including six gold and four silver, at the Canoe Sprint Junior & U23 Championships in Thailand.

According to the Vietnam Canoeing, Rowing and Sailing Federation, among the gold medalists was Olympic qualifier Nguyen Thi Huong who finished first in the U23 women's single C1 500m event. Huong also teamed up with Nguyen Thi Hong Thai and Diep Thi Huong to clinch two more gold medals in the U23 women's double C2 200m and C2 500m events, respectively./. Read full story
