- Permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu has signed for issuance of the Politburo and Secretariat’s conclusion outlining key tasks for the continued restructuring and streamlining of the political system's organisational apparatus in 2025.

At a meeting on February 14, the Politburo directed the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission to continue working closely with Party committees and affiliated Party bodies to tackle obstacles arising during the implementation phase, ensuring strict adherence to the 13th-term Politburo’s Directive on the organisation of Party congresses at all levels in the lead-up to the 14th National Party Congress and the Politburo’s conclusion on adjustments to the Directive. - Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang on February 20 highlighted the enhanced defence cooperation between Vietnam and Canada when receiving Canadian Deputy Minister of National Defence Stefanie Beck who is in Hanoi to co-chair the third Vietnam-Canada Defence Policy Dialogue.

- After nearly four decades of reform, Vietnam has emerged as a middle-income country and is pushing forward with industrialisation and modernisation. The nation's socio-economic development strategy for the 2021-2030 period set a target of achieving an average social labour productivity growth rate of at least 6.5% a year, marking a significant shift from quantity-based to quality-driven growth.

According to Dr. Tran Hau Ngoc, Vice Chairman of the Commission for Standards, Metrology, and Quality of Vietnam, labour productivity is the decisive factor in determining the economy’s competitive edge amidst international integration and fierce competition. Read full story

- Vietnam’s industries and businesses are advised to better the diversification of markets in 2025, given that unpredictable fluctuations and escalating trade tensions may pose negative impacts on the country’s export activities.

According to experts, US President Donald Trump’s recent signing of an order imposing tariffs on exports from Canada and Mexico, as well as increasing tariffs on products from China, is seen as the beginning of the tariff policies under the Trump administration. This also leaves the possibility of the US imposing tariffs on imports from other countries. Read full story

- Hanoi Metro has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with key players in Vietnam’s green transport sector to develop an all-electric public transit model.

Under the agreement inked on February 19, Hanoi Metro will collaborate with Xanh SM, VinBus, FGF, and V-Green to create a seamless door-to-door transport system integrating electric metro lines, taxis, motorbikes, and buses. Read full story

- Vietnam has shown strong appeal to international visitors, with recent Google search data revealing a significant surge in foreigners’ travel-related queries over the past three months, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT)’s Tourism Information Technology Centre.

Global searches for Vietnamese accommodation have jumped 15-30% from late November 2024 to January this year compared to 2023. The momentum continued into early February 2025, with searches climbing 30-45%./. Read full story
