Action programme on foreign news service adopted

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has recently approved an action programme on foreign news service in 2013-2020 with the aim of maximising the capacity of foreign news service channels to serve national development.

The programme looks to ensure the Government’sconcentrated management and strengthen coordination in the production ofnews destined for the world public to further promote the country’simages and heighten her position in the international arena.

Italso aims to enable overseas Vietnamese to access updated news andinformation on current developments in the home country via differentcommunications channels.

To realise these goals,the programme has mapped out personnel and infrastructure plans well asthe making and issuance of related legal documents, policies andmechanisms.

It has also devised planning schemes forthe media engaged in foreign news services, a network of overseasbureaus of Vietnamese news agencies and culture-information centres, thecompilation of documents and organisation of training courses andinternational conferences and seminars supporting the service.

The programme takes on the organisation of various events to advertisethe images of Vietnamese land and people as well as its strengths intrade, tourism and services and all-faceted achievements tointernational friends and overseas Vietnamese.

The role ofVietnamese representative agencies and the Vietnamese communities abroadwill be brought into full play in these activities.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.
