Acting President: Gov’t calls for investment in agriculture

Acting President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh said that the Government wants to continue the call for investment in agriculture during a meeting with constituents in Phuoc Hau and Long Phuoc communes of Long Ho district in the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long on October 9.

Vinh Long (VNA) – Acting President Dang Thi NgocThinh said that the Government wants to continue the call for investment inagriculture during a meeting with constituents in Phuoc Hau and Long Phuoccommunes of Long Ho district in the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long onOctober 9.

She said that there are over 800 firms invest in farmingthis year, raising the total number of businesses in agriculture and rural developmentto over 10,000. In Vinh Long more specifically, many firms are interested infarm produce processing.

The leader stressed the need to supplement legal regulationsto prevent suspects in corruption cases from fleeing abroad and dispersingassets, adding that the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission hasbeen empowered to ask relevant authorities to bar Party members from leaving thecountry, or to seize assets and freeze bank accounts when necessary. 

The acting President also shared voters’ concern about hospitalovercrowding and flaws in practice by medical staff. She asked Vinh Long to payattention to investing in equipment and treatment, as well as improving medicalstaff expertise to create trust among patients.

Constituents called for promptly issuing circulars anddecrees guiding the enforcement of laws. Several of them asked the NationalAssembly, Government, and localities to outline a proper roadmap to planningtransportation and irrigation systems; and preventing drought, salinisation, andriver landslides to help locals stabilise their lives amid climate change.

They also hoped that more enterprises would invest inagriculture and rural development in order to provide active support forfarmers. –VNA
