Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) - The central province of Thua Thien-Hue will invest about 9 trillion VND (405 million USD) in ღturning 𒉰Hue into a green urban city from 2016 to 2030.

The first phase of the project will be carried out during 2016-2020 with a total capital of 1.4 trillion VND, and 7.6 billion VND will be reserved for the second phase from 2020-2030.
Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Cao said that building Hue into a sustainably-developing green urban city meets requirements for environmental and natural landscape protection, especially the preservation of the ancient imperial city relic site – an attraction to visitors. In addition to capital resources allocated for projects to be implemented in the next five years, the locality is focusing on mobilising money from the State budget, and official development assistance (ODA) from multilateral donors like the Asian Development Bank, World Bank and OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID). Priority will be given to projects related to urban environment improvement, rain-water and wastewater treatment, pond and lake dredging, and energy-saving lighting system.
Hue will diversify tourism activities, including cultural and ecological tourism, while building a new handicraft market in Thuy Xuan ward and other night markets, and developing public and non-motorised transport, he said. New roads to tourism sites will be constructed and the use of electric bicycles around the city will be encouraged, he added. At present, Singapore-based Akitek Tenggara company signed a cooperation agreement on Thua Thien-Hue tourism development master planning for 2016-2020, with a vision to 2025.-VNA
