6th Vietnam Summer School of Science opens in Binh Dinh

More than 120 students and 15 lecturers working at domestic and foreign institutions are joining the 6th Vietnam Summer School of Science (VSSS) which opened in the central coastal province of Binh Dinh on July 23.
Binh Dinh (VNA) - More than 120 students and 15 lecturers working atdomestic and foreign institutions are joining the 6th Vietnam SummerSchool of Science (VSSS) which opened in the central coastal province of BinhDinh on July 23.

Themed “Passion Horizon”, the three-day event is among official activities ofthe Rencontres du Vietnam programme. It is jointly held by the InternationalCentre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), Quy NhonUniversity, the centre for policy research and development, and S3 Academy forCreation.

The summer school will bring participants more than 20 lectures on issuesrelated to scientific research along with practical skills such as how to preparea CV and apply for scholarships.

According to Professor Tran Thanh Van, President of the Rencontres du Vietnamand ICISE founder, the event is aimed at inspiring young researchers andlecturers, encouraging and giving support to them in pursuing research as acareer.

The VSSS was established by a network of Vietnamese scientists group workingoverseas to share the magic of science and inspire young students. The SummerSchool’s lectures are designed by researchers studying and working abroad toprovide participants with the essence of science and research skills acrossnatural, technical, social, and economic fields.

The event is held annually on a basis of purely academic and non-profitactivities.

Last year’s school, entitled “Science in a Nutshell” was organised duringAugust 24-26. Some 180 students participated in 16 lectures.-VNA

♚ Vietnam launches six 4.0 technology training and talent networks

The networks bring together universities, research institutes and domestic and foreign businesses. Members will work closely in training, research, and technology transfer by sharing curricula, improving faculty capacity, providing access to laboratories and research facilities, and jointly implementing science and technology projects.

Vietnam is actively yet cautiously preparing for the construction of its first nuclear power plant in Ninh Thuan (now the south-central coastal province of Khanh Hoa). The resumption of the programme after years of suspension carries considerable significance for the nation’s development in a new era as it strives to gradually reduce and ultimately phase out coal-fired power to realise the Government’s commitment to Net Zero by 2050.

Vietnam has issued many key policies to support semiconductor development, notably the Politburo’s Resolution 57 on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Other initiatives include the Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050, and the Human Resources Development Programme for the Semiconductor Industry.
