19 localities eradicate substandard houses

Four more provinces have announced the completion of efforts to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated housing, bringing the total number of localities achieving this milestone to 19 out of 63 nationwide, according to the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs.

Hanoi (VNA) - Son La, Binh Dinh, Binh Phuoc, and Hau Giang provinces have announced the completion of effo𝐆rts to eliminate m🐬akeshift and dilapidated housing, bringing the total number of localities achieving this milestone to 19 out of 63 nationwide, according to the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs.

Among them, Binh Dinh stood out for its proactive approach, having launched its housing programme in 2020, ahead of the national campaign initiated in 2024. The south-central province completed the construction or repair of over 4,400 homes in eight months, demonstrating high efficiency through broad social mobilisation and active community engagement.
The northwestern mountainous province Son La removed over 3,000 substandard homes, while southern provinces of Binh Phuoc and Hau Giang completed work on 765 and nearly 1,500 homes, respectively. The beneficiaries included revolution contributors, ethnic minority households, and low-income families. Minister Dao Ngoc Dung praised Binh Dinh for its decisive, innovative approach and called on localities to maintain momentum in the national emulation movement to eliminate substandard housing by 2025. Local authorities have been actively mobilising state budgets, national target programmes, and community resources to ensure the timely and quality implementation of housing support, with close monitoring to guarantee transparency and effectiveness./.
