Hanoi (VNA) – The second plenary conference of the 13th-tenureParty Central Committee opened in Hanoi on March 8.
During the two-day sitting, the Party Central Committee willdiscuss the working agenda of the entire tenure, the nomination of candidatesfor high-ranking positions in State organs, and several other important issues.
In his opening remarks, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said thatthe session takes place when the country is celebrating the success of the 13th National Party Congress, actively implementing socio-economic developmenttasks, fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, and preparing for the upcoming electionsof deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People’s Councils atall levels in the 2021-2026 term.
After the 13th National Party Congress, thePolitburo has directed the completion and announcement of the congress’s documents,while preparing to issue the Politburo’s Directive on studying, disseminatingand carrying out the congress’s Resolution. The Politburo has also been preparingfor the building of working regulations and some other important issues.
The Politburo has approved working programmes of thePolitburo and the Secretariat in 2021, assigned tasks for Politburo andSecretariat members, rearranged personnel of several centrally-run agencies,and conducted preparations for the introduction of candidates to run to seatsin the 15th NA./.
Self-nominated candidates will have opportunities to secure a seat in the National Assembly - the country’s most powerful agency - in the upcoming election slated for May 23, said Hau A Lenh, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee.
The pilot organisation of urban administration in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang and the special mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang were discussed at a meeting of standing Government members in Hanoi on March 1.
